Roulette Wheel Layout - American and European
There are two main types of roulette wheel layouts, one is the American roulette wheel layout and the other the European roulette wheel layout. Both types of the roulette wheels have two parts: the bowl which does not move (on the outside ) and the inner wheel which has the numbers that spin. In most cases the wh eel is 32 inches (81.8 centimeters) in diameter and usually crafted of polished hard wood.
The bowl is divided into alternate red and black pockets which are numbers from 1 to 36, in addition there is in pocket (green) for 0 and if an American bowl there will be an extra 00 which is usually located on the opposite side to the single 0.
Players usually believe that the actual numbers on the roulette wheel layout are randomly distributed. This is not the case, the numbers are ordered around the wheel in a way to balance red, black odd, even and high and low.
On an American roulette wheel layout the numbers are ordered in a way that that opposite each odd number is the following highest even number.
This ball is spun on the solid immovable section of the roulette wheel. The ball slows down and drops into the centre turning tray where it comes into contact with the metal diamond buffers that make sure that players cannto predict where it will land. When the ball reaches the roulette wheel layout it will bounce in or around the numbered slots until it comes to a final resting slot that is designated by a number.
